Betteshanger Country Park

The Friends of Betteshanger Country Park is a Group that has been set up to help protect this important and bio-diverse wildlife site from development. The Regent

The Regent, an iconic building on the Deal seafront, has been empty for a number of years. The Deal Society is keen that the building is reopened as a cinema and frustrated at the delays to this happening. (more…)

Deal Society gets national recognition

Because of the work that we have done on Conservation Area Character Appraisals, and the toolkit we have developed, we were asked to give a presentation at a conference for Kent local councils and at the Civic Voice annual convention, a national conference for civic societies.

In January our profile will get even higher when we are presented as a leading example of community action at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Civic Societies. (more…)

Goodwin Sands Aggregate Dredging

As part of the Dover Western Docks Revival, the Port of Dover have applied to dredge 2.5 million cubic metres of aggregate from the South Goodwin Sands (which they say is 0.22% of the volume of the sands). (more…)
