The Deal Society has been the civic society for Deal and Walmer since 1964 and we continue to work for the benefit of the area.

How we are run

The Deal Society is an entirely voluntary organisation run by its members and independent of government or any other organisation.

The Executive Committee meets regularly to transact the formal business of the Society. A planning sub-committee and a social sub-committee meet as required. The Annual General Meeting is held in April of each year.

Report on 2021

Activities in the year were significantly interrupted by the Covid pandemic. The most important activity of the society is our involvement in planning, and Robin reports on how that continued.

History of the society

The Deal Society, originally known as The Deal Protection Society, supported by a galvanised population, helped to thwart a partial destruction of the town which would have meant having modern civic buildings in place of the largely unspoilt seaside town you see today.
