Samples of the new seating for Deal pier have been installed by Dover District Council as part of the tender process which will see all of the seating replaced during the summer. The pier will also be resurfaced which the council say will happen in late March or early April.
Unfortunately the café at the end of the pier is still closed. David White, Chairman of The Deal Society, said “As we move towards Spring and we get more weekends of good weather we need the pier café to be open. The pier is an important attraction to visitors as well as a loved facility for residents and anglers, the café adds to that appeal. We are particularly concerned that the council have admitted that the small kitchen may be a problem in attracting an operator to the pier and we urge the council to treat the appointment of a new operator for the café as an urgent matter.”.
