Each year there is a national day to celebrate the achievements of civic societies, and this year it will be on Saturday 16th June. We will once again be partnering with the Deal Maritime and Local History Museum to celebrate 50 years of the Middle Street conservation area.

There will be a guided walk around that area to explore it’s history, led by Deal Society Chairman David White. The walk will be based around ‘A stroll along Middle Street’, a new booklet published by museum volunteer local history authors and on sale at the museum.

It begins at the Deal Maritime and Local History Museum, 22 St George’s Road, Deal CT14 6BA at 1:30pm and will take about an hour at a moderate pace. It will finish back at the museum where tea will be available and there will be ample time to explore the museum.

The walk costs £3 (or £2 for concessions), which includes entry to the museum and no pre-booking is required.

Details of the museum are at www.dealmuseum.co.uk.
